I just had this issue with my 23 monkey. It happened at 560 miles after going about 50 mph for about 5 miles. I've seen other posts on this an know it happens on the Grom also.It has been fairly well documented that the issue is the bushing/gear second gear. This post has some pictures Engine noise 2023.All my break in miles has been under 7K rpm and EZ break in miles to the gym, Costco and around San Jose. Going to the Obon festival in San Jose and riding the Frankenstein grom everything seemed normal and this is a 4+ miles from my house.This is the only section that actually mentions Break-in Period as a term. Where do you live and ride? I wouldn't buy a Grom if you routinely have to stay at 50mph or above for any period of time. If you're pretty small and it breaks in well, you might hit 60 or 65mph in a tuck on flat ground. It's really happiest at slower speeds. not too bad on the old grom though. i have my rebound adjuster mounted at the bottom and it's reasonable easy to get to, that being said my piggyback makes mounting the other way impossible. give the shock at least 10 hours use before commenting on it, as with anything like this there is a break in period before it performs how intended.I didn't ride my Grom at WOT until a couple of hundred miles in. Actually, the Grom holds a lot of oil. If you compare how much oil the engine holds compared to the cc's, it is a lot.
